Effective Updated for launch readiness; effective on publication
Who we are
TLH Vision is a community initiative operated by Eddie Gonzalez Loumiet ("we," "us," or "our"), who controls the data collected on this site. It invites residents across Tallahassee and Florida's Capital Region to share their vision for the future. We describe it as a community initiative; it does not claim non-profit status. Administrators who manage the platform and review flagged content act on behalf of the operator.
What information we collect
When you submit a vision, we collect:
- First name or nickname (optional): displayed publicly on your vision card; if you leave it blank your vision appears as "Anonymous".
- Your role (optional dropdown): displayed publicly on your vision card.
- Your vision statement: the text you write; published immediately if it passes automated screening, or held for administrator review if it is flagged.
- ZIP code (required): private. It never appears on vision cards, dialogs, share links, or public responses. It is used only for aggregate participation reporting, and ZIP-level counts below five are suppressed publicly.
- Email address (optional): private. Never shown publicly and accessible only to site administrators, who may use it to follow up about your submission. It is not added to a mailing list.
- Topics: topics you select are kept as chosen; when none are chosen, themes may be inferred from the text. Guided-builder inputs are used to draft text you review and are not shown publicly.
We do not collect phone numbers, physical addresses, or government identifiers.
Likes and anonymous identifiers
When you like a vision, we store a small cookie (tlh_anon_id) in your browser to prevent duplicate likes. This cookie contains an identifier derived from your IP address using a one-way cryptographic function (HMAC). It is not linked to your name, email, or vision statement. It expires after five years. If you clear your cookies the same identifier will be re-issued on your next like, because it is derived from your IP rather than generated randomly.
We do not use this cookie for advertising or tracking.
One of One comments
If you comment on the One of One opinion page, we save your comment and optional name. A blank name appears as "Anonymous". Comments are personal opinions of their authors. At present, comments appear publicly as soon as they are posted; screening, reporting, and moderation tools for comments are being added and this policy will be updated when they are in place. Do not include information you do not want publicly visible.
We retain comments for as long as the platform is active, with no automated deletion schedule. For a removal request, use the public contact channel once it is posted (it is pending confirmation). Comment posting is rate-limited by IP address to prevent flooding.
Analytics
We use Replit-hosted analytics to understand page visits and a limited set of site interactions, such as whether a vision was submitted, generated with the Vision Builder, liked, reported, shared, or followed by an offer to help. We also measure op-ed comment posting outcomes, loading more comments, and clicks on the op-ed’s invitation to share a vision. We use this information to understand participation and improve the site.
Our custom analytics events do not include your name, email address, ZIP code, vision statement, search terms, or other free-form content. We do not use analytics for advertising, and we do not sell analytics data.
When bot verification is enabled on the submission form, Cloudflare (via its Turnstile widget) may process your IP address as part of spam prevention. If verification is not available, submitting is temporarily paused rather than accepted without it. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to that processing.
How submitted information is used
- Approved vision statements, names, and roles are displayed publicly on the site.
- ZIP code data is aggregated and displayed in regional participation maps and charts, never linked to an individual name.
- Every submission passes automated screening for profanity, spam, and duplicates. Clean submissions publish immediately; flagged submissions are held until an administrator reviews them. Not every submission is read by a person before publication.
- Visitors can report a published vision. Reports are reviewed by administrators, who may remove content that violates the Community Guidelines.
- Volunteer responses: an anonymous response stores only the theme. A contact request stores your email and optional name privately so organizers can reach you about helping.
Data retention and removal
We retain submissions for as long as the platform is active. If you would like your vision or associated information removed from the site, use the public contact channel once it is posted (it is pending confirmation) and we will delete it from our records.
There is currently no automated deletion schedule. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Children's privacy
TLH Vision is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we collect or use information, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
Questions or removal requests?
A public contact channel for TLH Vision is pending confirmation and will be posted here once approved. We will not publish a response-time commitment until that channel is confirmed.
